August Update

We have a new foal from Glen Appin - a lovely bay colt with a white star by Pro-Set.  Our Pro-Set foals just get better and better and we have high hopes that he will turn out to be of stallion material.  After I had sat up all night watching Mum in the foaling box from the comfort of the living room she waited till she was put out out the field for a little exercise to introduce him to the world!  Maybe she did not think her foaling box was big enough!

Skeyria Davy, our part bred Eriskay, is now doing well in Foxhunter classes and gets better and better. He is the only pony with Eriskay blood jumping at that level and we are very proud of him.

Moonlight Gem has gone to Gemini Stud's super stallion Classic Primitive and we are anxiously awaiting to find out if she is in foal.  Our 4 year old colt, Glen Ken, is now being retained by us to do Young Horse classes.

All kittens in their new homes now and the house is very quiet without them.  As we have had so many enquiries about kittens we are considering getting another breeding female.

June Update

Solero has has a bay colt foal by San Antonio. He is a well built, beautiful moving fellow and is very friendly and happy to be handled.

Glen Lomond is in the process of being backed and is proving to be a very willing and obedient horse. Her paces look even better now she is in work and she looks to be a future star.  Cona Glen has been sold and we wish her new owners all the best with this lovely young mare.

Gemma, a key member of the Dark Valley Sports Horse Stud team, has gone to Australia for 3 months.  We are looking forward to hearing what a great time she is having and are not at all jealous - well maybe a little!!

May Update

Puck's Glen was 7th in the Final 5 Year Old Welsh Masters.  Considering it was his first time over a 1.25 course and he had only one pole down in the Final round he has done really well.

Our 2005 Pavo Eventing Winner Ideal Rock has come back with a bang from his layoff after injury to win two British Eventing Pre-Novice events back to back.

Skeyria Davy had one pole down in the Coral Final this year but to get into the Final two years running is surely the sign of a super pony.

So Far in 2008

Puck’s Glen’s (ProSet/Indra) performance in the 2007 Baileys Horse Feeds/British Breeding Futurity won us a Breeders Award presented at the prestigious Supporters of British Breeding Dinner in January 2008.  This is the second time in three years that we have been rewarded at the Dinner - a very rare achievement.  In 2005, we won the British Eventing 4 year old Breeding Championship with Ideal Rock (Rock King/Moonlight Gem) and were presented with a certificate and commemorative medal at the Dinner in January 2006. Surely wonderful record for a small stud.

Our Eriskay colt Skeyria Pip (St Bridgit Munro/Oddsfarm Fiona) was inspected by the Eriskay Pony Society in January and is now a licensed stallion.

Skeyria Davy (Miner’s Lamp/Hollanden Isla) our part bred Eriskay is continuing where he left off in 2007 and has won a Scope Adventurer qualifier and also qualified for the Coral and Sparkler. He has also picked up a Member’s Cup this year.

Highlights of 2007

Puck’s Glen (ProSet/Indra) recorded the highest score and a 1st Premium at a Baileys Horse Feeds/British Breeding Futurity at Sunny Bank

Glenorchy, our 2007 colt by Atlantic Z (Dam Glenholme), gained a first premium and best show jumping foal at the same Futurity venue

Glen Devon, also by Atlantic Z (dam Nicole), jumped successfully in the 2007 Sunshine Tour and later in the year won an international class in Spain with James Davenport

Our Eriskay Part bred, Skeyria Davy (Miner’s Lamp/Hollenden Isla), was second in the Blue Chip Coral Championship beating many top class ponies.

TopSet (born Glen Grant) (ProSet/Glen Appin) qualified for the Shearwater 5 Year old Dressage Final

Glen Hurich (Atlantic Z/Ilona) was 1st equal in her qualifier on the first day of  the BSJA Young Horse Championships though did not contest the final.

Glen Eagles (Indoctro/Ilona) has won the 2007 Novice Championship at the Welsh Master Showjumping Show.

Glen Etive (Nepal/Glen Appin) was graded into the main studbook of the BWBS and went on to win her class at the grading show.

Highlights from previous years

Ideal Rock, (born Glen Fender) (Rock King/Moonlight Gem), our 2005 4 year old PAVO British Eventing Champion has been side lined due to injury but we have his siblings here.

Glenearn (Atlantic Z/Akteve Bewes) became a KWPN ster mare at her UK KWPN grading and stood champion at the show.  Glenearn beat well bred imported KWPN mares and even had her photograph in the KWPN international magazine showing that arguably the best studbook in the world accepts our quality.  We believe she was the first British bred mare to achieve this.  She is the dam of our outstanding 2007 colt Glen Ken.  We should have kept her as a broodmare.
