Towy Valley Festival (NPS) - Matchmaker of Towy Valley /Tanner Mercury/Bubbly

We were urgently looking for a companion for our Eriskay mare as she had just lost her grandmother with whom  she shared a field.  While we wanted a nice pony, outstanding quality was not at the head of our list of required attributes when we heard of a local mare with a colt at foot.  Not being a lover of chestnut mares and not really wanting two ponies we were not hopeful when we went to see them.  However, we were  pleasantly surprised to find a very smart little12.2 mare with her super moving colt and we purchased both Towy Valley Festival (known as Seren) and her son Kyffin (see below).

As we were not familiar with pony breeding at the time, we did not realize that the mare we had bought was a product of the famous Towyvalley Stud and that she had a distinguished pedigree behind her.  Her colt was 18 months old and had not been weaned and, although they were both in very good condition, they had been living out “on the mountain”.  After some initial suspicion, she has developed into a well mannered, obedient pony.   She has now been graded into the Main Register of the Sports Pony Studbook Society, particularly impressing the judge with her temperament.  She should produce a very good Sports Pony and is expecting a foal in 2008 to a Welsh Section B stallion.

Kyffin (WP-PB) - Sianwood Arcade (B)/Matchmaker of Towy Valley/Tanner Mercury

Kyffin is chestnut gelding of about 13 hands and is rising three years old.  When he arrived he was very nervous and was not used to other horses.   Since then he has become a friendly and confident fellow very much at home with people and other horses.  He should make a very good child’s pony.  At present, he is earning his hay by being companion to Dawn Chorus and is quite happy to stand his ground against a horse twice his size.  He is a very good moving pony with lots of potential and a real pleasure to have.
